Description
1 and 3 Water Lane are probably originally one house, now a symmetrical pair of buildings. The origins of the structure date to the 16th and 17th centuries, with later remodelling and rear additions. The property was modernized in the early 1980s. The construction is timber framed, with roughcast render and a pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high. Mid-20th century casement windows, with small panes on the ground floor, are present. Mid-20th century boarded doors are set together centrally. Gable stacks, external in appearance, project forward from the roof ridge. The interior of number 3 reveals a small amount of exposed studding; floor timbers are concealed. The interior of number 1 has not been inspected.
