Description
No. 14 Aspall Road is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It has a timber frame, with the facade and right gable end covered in late 19th-century red brick featuring grey brick dressings, while the rest of the building is plastered. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the house has two storeys plus an attic.
The facade is symmetrical with three bays. The side bays contain 6-paned sash windows set under segmental arches. There is an original Doric doorcase with fluted pilasters, an entablature that includes triglyphs and guttae, and a dentil cornice. The door itself is a mid-20th-century 6-panel design that is raised and fielded. Above the door is a window with a semi-circular arched head, featuring a key and supported by fluted pilasters. The house has a central stack with an axial red brick shaft.
On the right side, there is a mid-20th-century lean-to that includes a single 6-paned sash window. The interior of the house remains largely intact, showcasing thin primary-braced studding and a newel stair that ascends in two flights.
