Description
This is an early or mid-16th century barn located 10 metres west of Hill Farmhouse, on Offton Bildeston Road. It is a three-bay timber-framed building, now weatherboarded externally. The roof is covered in asbestos sheets. The barn features heavy close-studwork and long arch wind-braces on the interior face. A weatherboarded timber-framed midstrey on the west side was likely rebuilt in the 18th century. Despite the replacement of the original thatched roof structure in the 20th century, the barn is designated a building of group value due to the good quality of the surviving timber framing.
