Description
Valley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 16th century, featuring a crosswing, while the main range was rebuilt around 1800. The building has two storeys. The crosswing is constructed from timber framing and is plastered, while the main range is made of red brick and includes a dentil course at the eaves. The roofs are covered with plain tiles and have an axial chimney made of red brick. The ridge tiles are crested and pierced with trefoils. The windows are 20th-century casements, and there is a 20th-century glazed panelled entrance door that opens into a doorway from around 1800. The 16th-century wing showcases studwork with arched stud-bracing. Inside, there is a crownpost roof, and the archbraced open truss features a square crownpost with two-way plank bracing. Many of the rafters, collars, and other structural members are smoke-blackened, indicating they were reused from a medieval house.
