Description

The war memorial in Laxfield was built between 1918 and 1919 and is constructed from ashlar stone on a rusticated stone plinth. Designed in a classical style, it resembles a Roman funerary monument. The base features a square-plan rusticated stone plinth, with pilasters at each corner that support pediments adorned with carved ribboned wreaths. At the top, there is an urn from which an eternal flame rises. Between the pilasters, panels display inscriptions that honor the names of those who fell in both World Wars. This memorial is noted for its detailed craftsmanship and unique design.
