Description

Rose Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plaster, featuring an original tarred brick gable end on the south side. The roof is covered with glazed black pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, following a two-cell plan with an end chimney. There are two windows with 18th to 19th century casements. A 19th century four-panel door, with the upper panels glazed, is located in the side of a gabled timber porch. The studding is of variable quality, spaced quite widely, and lacks bracing. The roof includes a single row of clasped purlins and a ridge piece. Inside, there is an original newel stair situated behind the stack.
