Description
Crouch Cottages is a former farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. It dates back to the 16th century and features a timber frame with roughcast render. The roof is tiled with plain tiles at the front and pantiles at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-cell form. It includes various casement windows, with one original window that has cavetto mullions. The entrance door is from the 20th century. There is a square axial stack and a later external stack at the right gable end. Inside, the hall is divided into two unequal bays, with a bridging beam and joists that display unusually ornate triple stop-chamfers. The bridging beam in the parlour is moulded, but most of the structure is concealed, and the upper floor has not been examined.
