Description
42-48 Felaw Street is a notable example of 19th century industrial architecture, consisting of two blocks of maltings. The larger block faces south on Felaw Street, while the smaller block, designed in a similar style, faces north. These buildings are part of a larger complex of 19th century maltings and industrial structures in the docks area. The building is constructed of red brick and stands five storeys tall with double attics. It features a ten-window range with factory windows that have segmental arched heads. Each window range is set within a slightly recessed brick panel. The roofs are covered with slate and include two rows of dormer windows. At the east end of each malting block, there is a drying block that rises three storeys, topped with a tall, steeply sloping slate roof that has three ventilators.
