Description
This is a long, imposing terrace of early 19th century houses on Norwich Road, built of grey gault brick with a rusticated stucco ground storey. The terrace comprises numbers 139 to 167 (odd), and is three storeys high with cellars. Each house has a two-window range, for a total of 30 windows. The south-east and north-west ends of the terrace project slightly and are topped with pediments, with pilasters rising through the two upper storeys. The central windows of each end pavilion are set within recessed brick panels. Short, two-storeyed wings, one of three windows and the other of two windows, extend from the south-east and north-west ends respectively. The windows are double-hung sashes, mostly with glazing bars, set within plain reveals and have stucco cornice lintels. The doorways have rusticated stucco reveals and feature four-panel doors with simple rectangular fanlights above. The roofs are slate covered. This terrace forms a group with numbers 121 to 127 (odd) and 139 to 185 (odd) together with numbers 120 to 152 (even), and also with numbers 156 to 162 (even) and 168 and 168B.
