Description

Pine Tree Cottage is a house likely dating from the late 16th century. The brick facade is marked with the inscription "EL.Hl8l0", indicating work carried out in 1810. The house has a timber frame, with red brick facing on the facade and gable ends, and plastering to the rear. The roof is tiled with black pantiles. The building is two storeys high with an attic. It has a three-window front, featuring two-light and three-light casement windows with segmental arches. The entrance is asymmetrical, with a 20th-century boarded door and an open, Regency-style wrought iron porch. The gable ends have scalloped bargeboards, and there are internal and gable-end stacks. Inside, some timber framing remains exposed, along with two newel staircases and some original internal doors. A good clasped purlin roof is visible, featuring curved wind bracing.
