Description
Thatched House is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with the oldest part likely located to the south. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a thatched roof. The building has a single storey and attic on the north side and two storeys on the south side. Each section has one window range, which consists of mid-20th century small pane casements. There is a doorway with a thatched gabled porch and a modern boarded door, along with one eyebrow dormer and gable end stacks. A mid-20th century single storey extension has been added to the rear. Notably, the wall posts that support the main first floor beam in the older part of the house have moulded heads with scalloping across the face, similar to features found at Fordley Hall in Middleton.
