Description
The Village Hall, originally a school, dates from 1842 and is located on the west side of The Street in Westleton. It features small flint pebbles with pale yellow rusticated brick dressings and has a slated roof. The building is single storey with a symmetrical facade that includes a projecting gabled entrance and three large pane casement windows on either side. The entrance has a semi-circular headed doorway with splayed brick reveals and moulded brick capitals. The door consists of six recessed vertical panels reinforced with ironwork, originally designed as a gate with the panels open. Above the door, there is cast iron cresting and a modern rectangular fanlight. The tympanum above the arch bears the inscription 'Jubilee Clock V:R Erected 1887', and above this is the clock mentioned in the inscription. Each gable end features a pair of tall semi-circular headed casement windows with a blank panel between them.
