Description
High House Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a core dating from the 16th century. The right-hand cell, which serves as the parlour, was added in the early 17th century when the original house was raised by about 0.3 meters. A rear wing, likely from the 19th century, is also part of the structure. The building is timber framed and plastered, with red brick casing up to the eaves level on the left-hand gable end, and features a pantiled roof. A small section of the front jetties out, displaying exposed framing on the ground floor, which appears to be a remnant of an earlier range. The farmhouse has a three-cell plan and includes three mid-20th century casement windows, a lobby entrance with a gabled porch, and a four-panel door. There is an internal stack, and the rear wing displays wrought iron letters "A" and "S" on the gable end. The interior has been modernized but retains exposed timbering. The farmhouse is situated on a moated site.
