Description
Gales Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. The south end of the main range was rebuilt after a fire in 1970. The building has an L-shaped plan with a service wing to the east. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a plaintiled roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic in the main range, which features a three-cell layout and a lobby entrance. There are mid-20th century casement windows, a glazed door, and a boarded half-door on the main range. An original mullion window can be found at the rear of the main range. The building has internal and gable end stacks. To the south of the service wing, there is an arched stone doorway, likely from the 20th century. The interior showcases some good exposed framing.
