Description

The building at 1 Quay Street is a late 18th-century structure with earlier remains visible in the basement. The basement was likely the original ground floor before the road level was raised. It is two stories high and built of painted brick with a slate roof. The front has three sash windows with flat arches within flush frames. The entrance features a six-panel door set within a plain, wide architrave, flanked by heavy console brackets and topped with a cornice. Above the door is an arched fanlight with radial bar glazing, and fluted pilasters. The building forms a group with numbers 47 to 57 Quay Street.
