Description

The Old Thatch is a 16th-century cottage located on Peasenhall Road, Walpole. It is constructed with a timber frame and plaster, and has a half-hipped thatched roof. The building is single-storey with an attic, and originally comprised three rooms. It features mid-20th century casement windows with diamond-leaded panes, along with two segmental-headed dormers. A cross passage provides entry, leading to a mid-20th century boarded and battened door and an open thatched porch supported by rustic timber posts. An internal stack is present. Inside, an original plank and muntin partition is visible against the cross passage, and two ground floor rooms retain exposed joists.
