Description

Lincoln's Barn is a late 16th-century barn located on Brook Lane in Framlingham. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has a frame consisting of three bays, with an entryway into the middle bay. It features full height scuds, cambered tie-beams with long arched braces, and a clasped purlin roof supported by diminished principals. The outer bays have single windbraces, while the middle bay has a pair of windbraces. The threshing-floor is paved with limestone slabs. From 1640 to around 1700, this barn served as a meeting place for the Baptists in Framlingham, where Thomas Mills, who attended these meetings during his apprenticeship, frequently preached.
