Description
Rose Cottage is an estate cottage from the mid-19th century, part of a matching pair with Jesma Cottage. It is constructed of white brick and has a slated roof. The building has one storey and a basement, with the basement at ground floor level at the rear. The facade features three bays separated by brick pilasters, with dummy cross windows that have semi-circular arched upper lights and glazing bars arranged in a geometric pattern. The center bay has been altered with a mid-20th century casement window. At the basement level, there are boarded semi-circular openings, with the center one replaced by a mid-20th century window. The gable ends have stacks and an overhanging roof that forms a broken pediment, with a quatrefoil in a square panel on each gable end. The rear elevation has been altered with mid-20th century windows and doors. Despite these alterations, the cottage is included for its group value with Jesma Cottage as part of the pair.
