Description
The White House is a Grade II listed house located on The Street in Somerleyton. It dates from the 18th century, with an early 19th-century facade. The building has an L-shaped plan and is constructed of brick and stucco, topped with a hipped pantiled roof. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and features a three-bay facade, where the central bay is slightly set forward. The exterior includes rusticated quoin strips and a plinth, along with inset sash windows that have glazing bars.
The entrance features a six-panel raised and fielded door, which is inset and accompanied by a semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars and panelled reveals. The doorway is framed by a reeded architrave adorned with roundels and a key, and it is set within an arched recess that has a broad rusticated surround. To the left, there is a one-storey addition that includes one sash window.
