Description
Glebe Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that features two storeys and a two-cell end chimney plan, with later additions. The building is timber-framed, partially plastered, and the rest is encased in colour-washed 19th-century brick, topped with clay pantiles. On the upper floor, there are two three-light cast-iron casement windows, while the ground floor has two 20th-century replacement windows set in surrounds with segmental arches, along with a blocked doorway between them. A 19th-century brick extension for a stair and hall is located at the west end and also has a blocked doorway. Inside, the plain framing is exposed in three bays, and the original fireplace features a plain timber lintel. Some of the ceiling beams are very rough, and the roof structure is largely concealed. The cottage is positioned sideways to the road, in a corner-to-corner position with The Old House, and it is likely that it was originally built as a unit house. It is now separately occupied.
