Description

A terrace of eight houses at 1-15 Albion Street, Saxmundham, dates from the mid-19th century, with later extensions to the rear. The houses are constructed of gault brick, with a pantile roof and four gault brick ridge stacks.

The two-storey houses, with basements, each have a single window facing the street. A four-centred carriage arch is located in the centre of the terrace. Front doors, which have been replaced, are positioned alternately to the left and right of the ground floor windows. The ground level falls from west to east, resulting in higher steps leading to the entrances of numbers 1 and 15. Originally, the ground floor windows were 8/8 sashes without horns, and the first floor windows were 4/8 sashes without horns, all set within gauged skewback arches. Original ground floor sashes survive in number 9, and original first floor sashes are present in numbers 1, 3, 7, and 9. A 3/6 unhorned sash window sits above the central carriage arch.

The interior of the houses was not inspected as part of the listing process.
