Description
GRUNDISBURGH THE GREEN TM 25 SW (South side) 2/82 Bridge House GV II House. C17. Timber framed with brick and colourwashed rendered infill and a plain tiled roof, originally thatched. Two storeys with attic. Three- cell baffle-entry plan. Road front: To right is a single-storey canted porch with a door of 6 raised and fielded panels. At left is a further 6- panel door with a C20 classical surround. Three 3-light casements to the ground floor and also to the first floor. The walling on this front has applied planking simulating timber framing. Axial stack at left of centre with 3 flues. Rear: rendered and colour-washed with simulated timber- framing of planking, projecting single-storey gabled wing at right. The range at left of this has, at left of centre a set of French windows and at far left a C20 three-light casement and at far right a cross-window with a cambered head. three 3-light C19 casements to the first floor and a 3- light raking dormer to the attic.
Interior: ground floor close studded walling with some brick infill showing. Jowled wall posts supporting chamfered ceiling beams with stepped run-out stops. Winder staircase leading up from the lobby and a further similar staircase to the attic. Jowled wall posts and chamfered ceiling beams to the first floor. Roof of 6 bays with dog-leg wind braces and cambered collars.
