Description

Folly Cottage is a house dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is timber-framed and has a colourwashed render exterior and a pantile roof. The house has two storeys. The left-hand side features a projecting, gabled wing that is single-storeyed with an attic. This wing has French windows on the ground floor and a 2-light casement window on the first floor. To the right of the wing is the main part of the house, which has a 4-panel flush door positioned slightly left of centre. Immediately to the right of the door is a 2-light casement window, and further windows to the right include a 3x2-pane window, a 2-light window with a cambered head, and another 2-light window. The first floor has four 2-light casement windows. The house has axial stacks to the right, a cross-axial stack to the left, and a further stack in the re-entrant angle between the main range and the left wing. The rear of the building has 20th-century additions at ground floor level. Inside, the ground floor has chamfered ceiling beams and joists. The walls feature exposed studwork. All windows are 20th-century replacements.
