Description
The Bull Hotel, formerly known as the Bull Inn, is located on Church Street (East Side) and dates back to the early 17th century, with a facade from the early 19th century facing Market Hill. The building is three stories tall and constructed of brick and stucco, featuring three decorative bands including an eaves band. The roof is covered with slates.
It has four sash windows, which now only have central glazing bars. The entrance consists of a pair of two-panel doors topped by an oblong fanlight, flanked by pilasters and an entablature. The first floor overhangs part of the building facing New Street. Additionally, there is a later 18th-century brick wing that has five upper-floor windows with glazing bars and flush frames.
The Bull Hotel, along with Nos 32 to 36 (even) and No 2 Market Hill, forms a cohesive group of buildings.
