Description

Bridge House is a house that was likely originally associated with the nearby Old Post Office. The main part of the building dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century, while an early 19th-century wing on the east side creates an L-shaped plan. The main range is timber framed and plastered, topped with a plain tiled roof, and has two storeys with a jettied first floor on the west side. The 19th-century wing is constructed of flint with a painted brick front and has a pantiled roof, also featuring two storeys and an attic. Both sections have a mix of casement and sash windows, with the main range including a modern three-light shop window on the north gable end. There are two doorways within a glazed and pantiled corner porch: one is a boarded door and the other is a modern half-glazed door.
