Description
Poplar Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a central range and a cross-wing to the north. The central range is the earlier part and is timber framed with modern render and a plaintiled roof. It is a single storey with an attic, featuring two windows with modern casements and two flat-roofed dormers. The doorway at the north end is in the position of a former cross-passage and has a modern boarded door. The timber framed cross-wing has exposed first floor framing on the north side and a pantiled roof. It is two storeys high and has 20th-century windows and a door, along with a gable end stack. There are further extensions to the east, including a 19th-century brick dairy. On the south side, the roof extends down to form a semi-enclosed porch. To the south of the L-shaped plan formed by the two earliest wings are later extensions made of rendered brick, with plaintiles and pantiles, also two storeys high.
