Description
This is a cartshed located approximately 50 yards south of Oaktree Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is timber framed with colourwashed infill and has pantile roofs, standing two storeys high. The entrance front features a gable end and incorporates re-used timbers from the 16th and 17th centuries. The structure has corner posts with three joists supporting a bressumer. The upper storey is covered with clapboarding and includes a central 2-light 20th-century casement window, along with pigeon loft entrances on the right side. The right side of the building displays close studding with a middle rail, a brick plinth, and brick infill, supported by shoring buttresses at each corner. The left side is similar in design. The rear has breeze block walling on the ground floor and clapboarding on the first floor, with a central doorway that is accessed by a ladder.
Inside, the cartshed consists of three bays, with wall posts featuring knee-joints and two central square posts resting on brick plinths, supported by axial angle braces. The building is included for its group value.
