Description
The barn adjacent to Oak Farmhouse is a 16th-century structure. It is timber-framed and features 20th-century weatherboarding and a corrugated asbestos roof. The roof is gabled on the east side and hipped on the west. The barn has a frame consisting of four bays, with the easternmost bay being partitioned off and floored. Notable architectural details include substantial scudding, a middle rail, and arched braces at the corners. In the trusses, the long arched braces have been replaced with bolted knees. The roof includes a fragmentary clasped purlin design without principal rafters, and there are intermediate collars between the trusses for added strength.
