Description
Framlingham Hall is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a mid-19th century mock Tudor front and interior alterations. The building has two storeys and attics, with two wings extending at what is now the rear, which likely served as the original front, creating a half-H shape. It is timber-framed, partly rendered, and the current front is faced with mid-19th century red brick. The roofs are covered with plain tiles and feature ornamental ridge-tiles. There are two original brick stacks on the front, which have been rebuilt. The south faces of the wings are adorned with fine 17th century red brick Dutch gables that have an ogee curve at the apex. The inner sides of the wings and the central range are lined and painted to simulate timbering, and the gables have fluted and pierced bargeboards. The interior has undergone significant alterations and Victorianization, with no timbering visible. The roofs of the west wing and the central range have side purlins and appear to be of the same date, while the east wing is said to have been raised.
