Description
Rose Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600. It has two storeys and features a three-cell internal chimney and cross-entry plan. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with a roof made of concrete plain tiles and a large plain red brick chimney stack. The ground floor has three-light old casement windows with two horizontal bars, while the upper storey has one such window. There are two 20th-century plank doors.
The original layout is preserved on the ground floor, showcasing exposed timbers, some replacement studding, and high sills. The main posts in the parlour have shaped heads, with chamfered main beams on the ceiling and unchamfered joists set flat. A four-light diamond-mullioned window is located in the rear wall. The two back-to-back hearths feature plain timber lintels, and a newel stair is positioned beside the chimney stack. The service area has not been divided into two sections. The main entry remains where one of the cross-entry doorways was located. A 20th-century wing added at the rear is not included in the listing.
