Description

This is a farmhouse dating from the 15th century on the left-hand side, with a later addition from the late 16th or early 17th century at the right-hand end. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with a plaintiled roof, except for the rear of the older section, which has pantiled roofing. The left-hand side is a single storey with an attic, and has a three-window front with mullion and transom casement windows. Three segmental-headed catslide dormers light the attic space. The right-hand side is two storeys with an attic, and has a single window range with casement windows. There are traces of rusticated plasterwork on the first floor, indicating the former location of windows. A porch, built in the early 19th century with a gabled design, features a six-panel raised and fielded door with the upper two panels glazed. An internal stack is present, and the gable end is decorated with pierced drop finials. The earlier part of the farmhouse retains a cambered tie beam that was formerly over the open hall, whereas the later part exhibits good, closely-spaced exposed timbering.
