Description
The building immediately southeast of Rectory Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure, originally a secondary or unit house linked to the main farmhouse, which later served as a service range. It dates from the mid-16th century and is constructed of timber framing with plaster, featuring one gable end that is weatherboarded and a pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has a three-cell plan with a cross passage entry. Most of the original diamond mullion windows remain, complete with sliding and later hinged shutters; some windows retain their original lower slides and possibly original shutters, which are rare survivals. There is a boarded entrance door, and a later internal stack is positioned against the rear wall. The original straight stairs are still present, although the roof has been replaced. Currently, the building is used for storage and housing livestock.
