Description
Farmhouse. Dating from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, it was built in two phases. The farmhouse is timber framed and rendered with a pantiled roof. It is two storeys high with an attic, and originally comprised three rooms. It has three windows, these being replacements from the 19th and 20th centuries. A 20th-century gabled porch shelters the lobby entrance, with a 20th-century door. An external portion of an internal stack has been removed. The interior retains good exposed timber framing and joists, a newel staircase, and much original floorboarding. On the first floor is a fine rectangular plaster overmantel, dated 1678, featuring the initials 'P', 'I', and 'K' arranged around a central Fleur-de-lys, with smaller Fleur-de-lys and Tudor rose motifs, within a foilated border. The roof is of a queen post design, except over the right-hand room, which is likely a later addition.
