Description
The Priory is a former farmhouse, primarily dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a right-hand cross wing likely added in the early 19th century. The building features a main range flanked by cross wings. Its core is timber framed, while the front facade is made of early 19th-century white brick, and the rear is covered in roughcast render. The roof is tiled with plain tiles at the front and pantiles at the rear. The structure has two storeys and a former attic in the left-hand wing. The main range has four windows, and each wing has one window, with various mainly 20th-century casements. There are two half-glazed doors in the main range, all of which have timber hood moulds. The gables of the cross wings are adorned with ornamental bargeboards. An internal stack is present in the main range. A late 19th-century to early 20th-century rear porch features a re-used doorway dated 1570 and initialled 'IIS.A'. The interior has been modernised, and the right-hand wing contains imported moulded floor beams. Evidence from the roof structure suggests that the left-hand wing was originally a detached section.
