Description
Eel's Foot is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century. It has two storeys and a small-scale three-cell plan. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with weatherboarding at the apex of the gables. The roof is thatched and features a decorated ridge. There is an internal chimney stack with a plain square rebuilt red brick shaft. Each storey has two 2-light 20th-century standard windows, and there is a 20th-century enclosed and gabled porch.
Inside, the farmhouse has plain timbering and widely spaced studs. The main beams are stop-chamfered with curved stops and grooves. The roof is ceiled off below collar level, so the structure above is not visible. A former stair trap in the service end of the house indicates that the room above was separately accessible and partitioned off from the rest of the upper floor. Additionally, there is a later single-storey lean-to along part of the rear wall.
