Description
The gateway located immediately southeast of the coach house and barn at Cockfield Hall dates from the mid-16th century, although the upper parts have been restored. It is constructed of red brick with some traces of plasterwork and features plain tiles. The gateway has a three-centre moulded entrance arch topped with a square hood mould. The corners are supported by square buttresses that have moulded brick pinnacles, and the structure is adorned with crowstepped gables that include a moulded brick apex pinnacle. The mid-16th century red brick walling stands approximately 3 meters high and connects the gateway to the coach house and barn to the northwest, extending to the garage building to the southeast for an additional 12 meters to the northeast.
