Description

The statue of Prince Albert is located on the terrace in front of the main entrance of Framlingham College. It was created in 1865 by Joseph Durham, Royal Academician, and was presented by Sir Thomas Lucas. The statue stands 8 feet high and is made of bronze, mounted on a granite pedestal of similar height. This statue is a duplicate of one found in the Horticultural Gardens in London, as noted in White's Directory of Suffolk from 1874. Prince Albert is depicted wearing Elizabethan costume, complete with a doublet, hose, and a long cloak.
