Description
The Old Tithe Barn is a former rectory barn that has been partly converted into a house. It dates back to the early 16th century and features a timber-framed and plastered structure, with brick on the west gable wall and clay pantiles on the roof. The roof is hipped on the west side and gabled on the east, adorned with 19th-century pierced and fluted bargeboards and a drop finial.
The three western bays retain their original barn form, showcasing some original wall-framing with a middle rail and close studding, alongside some 19th-century replacements that include primary braces and bisected scuds. The trusses are equipped with long arched braces, plain crown-posts that have braces to the collar-purlin, and curved tension braces to the tie-beams. A 19th-century timber-framed partition wall separates the three eastern bays, which have been converted into a house, featuring inserted ceilings and an extension on the south side.
