Description
Oak Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with the right-hand end of the main range likely being slightly later than the rest. It has an L-shaped plan with a service range at the rear. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and features a three-window range, including three-light and four-light casements that have mid-20th century glass and imitation leadwork. The entrance is a lobby with a gabled porch that incorporates a reused door head with carved spandrels, which may have originated from The Broadhurst in Brandeston. The entrance door is a six-panel design, with the upper two panels being glazed. There is an internal stack, and at the rear, there is a notable 17th-century mullion and transom window with a carved sill. Inside, the farmhouse retains an original vertically-boarded oak partition and some impressive exposed timbering.
