Description

Soham House is a house dating from the early to mid-16th century. It is timber-framed and has been plastered, with a pantiled roof. Originally, it comprised three rooms arranged around a cross passage entry. The house has two storeys. Various casement windows have been added in the 19th and 20th centuries, alongside two original mullion windows, one of which is at the rear. A 4-centred arched doorway with carved spandrels provides entry, although the door itself is modern. There is one internal chimney stack and a gable end stack on the left side. The interior features a roll-moulded beam and good, closely-spaced timbering. Near the service end of the house, one original arched doorway remains off the cross passage, along with traces of a second. The roof is not original.
