Description
149 and 149A-D High Street is a public house that has been converted into a shop and four flats. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of whitewashed brick, topped with a roof of black-glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and a dormer attic.
On the left side, there is a late 19th-century plate-glass shop front featuring arched muntins and a recessed central door. To the right of this, there is a 4-panelled 19th-century door with a painted overlight above it. The right elevation is closed off by one 2/2 horned sash window. The first floor is lit by three similar sash windows, which are set in flush boxes. The gabled roof has two flat-topped dormers, each fitted with 3/3 sash windows. There is an internal gable-end stack to the south, which is shared with No. 148.
