Description

Berfield House is an early 19th-century house located on High Street, Lowestoft. The building is constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick with a roof of black-glazed pantiles. It is two storeys high with a dormer attic. The main entrance is a 6-panel door positioned on the right-hand side, set within panelled reveals and topped with a geometric-glazed overlight, supported by scrolled brackets. There is one horned 2/2 sash window to the left, and two similar windows to the first floor, the window above the door lacking glazing bars. All windows have 20th-century external shutters. The gabled roof features a flat-topped dormer window fitted with a 3/3 sash. Internal gable-end stacks are present, with the stack on the south side shared with the adjacent property at No. 147. A two-storey gabled rear block extends from the main structure.
