Description
Crown House, built around 1760, is a three-storey brick house with a basement, topped with a black-glazed pantile roof. It features three bays and a central six-panelled door that is accessed by a flight of brick and stone steps, flanked by circular section iron railings. Above the door is a five-vaned fanlight, and the timber doorcase is adorned with a pediment supported by a pair of engaged unfluted Ionic columns. The windows on the ground and first floors are 6/6 sashes, while the second floor has 3/3 sashes, all set beneath gauged skewback arches. A dentil eaves cornice runs below the gabled roof, with internal gable-end stacks on the north and south sides. At the rear, there is a four-storey extension with two by two bays, featuring a rendered ground floor and 6/6 sashes and 3/3 sashes on the upper floors. Inside, there is a stick baluster staircase located in the south-east corner of the main block. The house is set back from the street and is separated from it by circular section iron railings that include a central gate.
