Description
Walnut Tree Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse that is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of glazed black pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, following a three-cell layout. It features three windows, which include three-light and four-light mullion and transom casements; some of these are from the 18th century, while others are mid-20th century copies. The entrance door, added in the mid-20th century, is located where the cross-passage would have been. There is an internal stack, and at the rear, an original cavetto-moulded mullioned window can be found at first floor level, along with two additional original windows visible from inside. The interior showcases much exposed timbering, original doors, and old floorboarding. At the service end, there are paired square-headed doorways with original doors. The staircase features newel stairs, with the lower flight having been rebuilt. The roof structure includes clasped purlins with arched wind-bracing.
