Description
The Rectory is a house dating from approximately 1770 to 1780. It is constructed of red brick and has two storeys and an attic with two dormers. The front has five windows arranged symmetrically, with flat arches above them. A plinth runs along the base, and the central three windows are emphasised by gauged brick pilasters topped with stone capitals featuring fluting. A brick pediment with a fluted frieze sits above, and the roofline is finished with a parapet. The double-span roof is covered in pantiles. The windows are sash windows, set in reveals, and now have central glazing bars only. At the rear, windows are set within elliptical arched openings, with a central blank panel featuring a trefoil arch, now filled with mullion transom casements from the 19th century. The entrance is a six-panel door surmounted by an arched fanlight within a wooden case with Doric columns and an open pediment. Stone steps lead to the door, with wrought iron railings. The interiors include ceilings of a type associated with the Adam style. The Rectory is part of a group with Nos. 11 to 27 (odd).
