Description

Hungate House is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall with an attic. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof, along with a wooden ogee bracket cornice. The central block has three windows and a central door, with an additional window above a side door in the wing. There is a green wall and door on the opposite side, and three dormers are present. The building has sash windows with glazing bars and flush frames. The central entrance features a six-panel door set in a wooden case with a bracket cornice. Inside, there is a cut string stair with shaped brackets and column newels. Notably, the Viscomte de Chateaubriand stayed here in 1794.
