Description

The Crown and Anchor Public House is a 16th-century building located at No. 7 Ballygate. It has two storeys and two dormers, with the upper part covered in mock timber framing and the lower part made of distempered brick. The roof is covered with pantiles. The dormers, which date from the 18th century, feature some lead glazing. On the first floor, there are three sash windows with exposed frames and small panes. The entrance is plain, highlighted by a massive door frame. The ground floor windows have been mostly altered. Inside, the ground floor boasts wide hewn stop-chamfered beams, while the first floor retains hewn beams and other early features. Nos 3 to 7 (odd) form a group.
