Description
Chantry Farmhouse is a house that has been divided into three separate dwellings. It features a date stone on the stack from 1597 with the initials R. over JB. The exterior is faced with early 19th century red brick and has a timber frame, topped with hipped plain tiled roofs. There are late 19th to early 20th century extensions at the rear. The building is two storeys tall and has an L-shaped plan with a five-window range. The windows are 20th century three-light casements with transoms and mullions, along with a single glazing bar, and are set under gauged brick arches. The rear has scattered fenestration with more 20th century casements. A red brick gabled entrance porch features a semi-circular brick arch, leading to a 20th century six-panelled entrance door with a semi-circular fanlight. There are two stacks, each with four attached octagonal chimneys made of moulded red brick, and one stack has three detached octagonal chimneys also in moulded red brick. The initials on the stack represent Rose and John Braham, who were the owners after Theophilus Howard, Earl of Suffolk.
