Description

MONEWDEN THE GREEN TM 25 NW (West side) 4/99 - Green Farmhouse - II

Farmhouse. C16. Timber framed with colourwashed render and a pantile roof, originally thatched. Three cell baffle-entry plan. Two storeys and attic. Entrance front: gabled C20 porch at right of the ground floor with a 3-light casement to right of the ground floor with a 3-light casement to right of it and a window of 6 x 3 panes to left of it and a 3-light casement at far left. The first floor has four 3-light casements. Ridge stack at left of centre of 2 flues. Right hand gable end: blank. Left hand gable end: ground floor casement window and a cross window to the attic. Rear: projecting, gabled C19 wing at left with a 4-light ground floor and a single-light first floor window. Lean-to at right of this in the re-entrant angle with a 5-light ground floor casement and a single light window above it. Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams with broach end stops to the ground floor, jowled wall posts and chamfered and plain joists. Further similar ground floor room. Winder staircase to the baffle entry. Blocked 4-light window to the first floor landing.
