Description
Poplar Farmhouse is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is timber framed with colourwashed render and originally had a thatched roof, which has since been replaced with pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a three-cell, baffle-entry plan.
On the entrance front, there is a six-panel door with a classical surround slightly to the left of centre, which includes a shouldered frame and a pediment. To the left of the door is a three-light 19th-century casement window, and to the right are two similar windows. The first floor has three matching windows. A square stack, rebuilt in 19th-century brick, is located at the ridge to the left of centre, above the door.
On the left end, there is a two-light 20th-century casement window in the attic. The right end features a three-light ground floor window and a two-light attic window, both from the 20th century. Projecting from the right side is an addition with a gambrel roof, which includes a stable door on the left, a two-light window to the right, and another door at the far right.
Inside, the farmhouse has slender plain timbers made of pine.
